Where do we go from here?

Updated: Feb 12, 2023

From the death of Nipsey Hussle, to the Jussie Smollet scandal, to finding out 21 Savage was British. 2019 has been a lot...No pun intended.

And indeed we’ve lost a lot.

This era needs another “seat at the table”. We’re at the age where the areas that we’ve once found stability in are drastically changing. We’re graduating. The culture and music we listen to and enjoy is different. Our homies we used to vent to are now parents. Our hood rat friends are no longer available to do hood rat things because rent is due, and well we got work in the morning.

Things are shifting and our senses of stability and the things we’ve once found “identity” in are altering in the process. In addition to trying to navigate through the daily stressors, family issues, and emotional traumas we experience, this life sh*t is a task.

Millennials are going through an extreme identity crisis and nobody is talking about it. The ones who dreams were so effortlessly to change the world are realizing that the world is actually a sh*tty place.

And the safe spaces, the creatives, musicians, films and art forms that once spoke out the fear of our souls so loudly are suddenly so quiet in the time we need them the most because they are also in shambles, figuring it out. I find myself listening to a shuffle playlist of blonde, Ctrl, and all the other albums of 2017 and its predecessors more now then I did at the time of the release.

The harsh reality is that this is adult-HOOD, and it’s some real ghetto sh*t.

It’s not knowing what’s next. It’s figuring it out and when you think you’ve got it figured out, it’s figuring it out some more.

But in the midst of the struggle, there’s purpose. And even when we feel like there’s no place for us in the world, the universe has a way of making that place of nothing be exactly where you need to be to evolve and step into who you were designed to be.

That's the beauty in the struggle, it always has purpose. If you always knew all of God's plans for you, it wouldn't be much of journey. These challenges are here to challenge you to reach your fullest potential and cultivate you in who you were meant to be.

The same God who made the universe, created the wind, and gave purpose for the air we breathe, decided that the universe needed you. And that should stand for something.

It’s been a while since you all have heard from me, but I'm back...

This next series of blogs will be me journeying through and sharing my stories, and I hope this motivates you to keep going.

With love and light,
